How did you get involved with the game of golf?
I had two main influences that got me involved in golf. My father was a recreational golfer with a love of the game. He introduced me to the sport through watching it on TV and visits to chip and putt courses and driving ranges. Also, my friend started to play golf with his older brother, so I wanted to join them to be included in the group.
Do you have a special moment or memory from a favorite course?
One of my favorite memories from the course came during college when I was playing the Georgetown Invitational at Lansdowne Resort in Virginia. I made a 180-yard 5-iron from the fairway on 18 in front of 100 people, including my mom and dad who came to watch me play.
What accomplishments and/or milestones are you most proud of?
Playing competitively has always been an important part of being a PGA Professional. I have won more than 10 Philadelphia PGA section events and pro-ams. My experiences playing in Florida on the mini tours are some of my favorite memories.
How would you describe your teaching philosophy?
I have some basic lesson rules that I follow for my teaching philosophy. First, find the most important issue a student has and work on building that skill. Next, adapt to the student by communicating on their level and making things simple.
What are a few of your favorite local courses?
I have too many favorite courses to just name a few, but some of my favorites include Gulph Mills Golf Club, Chester Valley Golf Club and Merion Golf Club. The par-3 course at Waltz Golf Farm is special because I play there with my young son and it's his favorite course.
